本作の素材であるサヌカイトは、約1300万年前に生まれ、古来私たちの祖先が石器として使用してきた石。すなわち、人類が命を繋いでいくために、なくてはならない石だったのです。
私たちが今ここに生きているということ。それは、太古から続く大きな時の中で、無数の生命の蓄積の上に、今があるということ。また、この道は途切れることなく、おそらくこの先も受け継がれていくでしょう。
そうした“永遠なる道”の一点に、私たちはそれぞれに、共に、生きているのではないでしょうか。
Sanukite, the stone used in this work, was formed about 13 million years ago and has been used by our ancestors for long time as stone tools. It was, therefore, an indispensable stone for humanity to sustain life. The fact that we are alive here and now. This means that our present existence rests upon the accumulation of countless lives within the great span of time stretching back to antiquity. Moreover, this path will likely continue unbroken, passed down into the future. Is it not so that we each, and together, live at one point upon this “eternal path”?

本展は、女性アーティスト19名による、自然と人の関係性に新たな光を投げかける試みです。自然との関わりを見つめなおすことは、自らの存在の基盤に想いを馳せ、現代社会でどのように生きるかという根源的な問いに向き合う行為でもあります。タイトルの「Seesaws（シーソーズ）」は、ゆれ動く時代に変化する価値観のバランスを象徴すると同時に、「She saw（彼女は見た）」という響きを内包し、作家それぞれの視点を示唆しています。
This exhibition is an endeavor by 19 female artists to shed new light on the relationship between nature and humanity. Reflecting on our connection with nature is also an act of contemplating the foundation of our own existence and confronting the fundamental question of how we live in contemporary society. The title “Seesaws” symbolizes the shifting balance of values in these fluctuating times, while also resonating with “She saw,” suggesting each artist’s unique perspective.

Art Collaboration Kyoto (Kyoto)
京都を拠点にする若手アーティストの活動支援を目的としたアワード「Pommery Prize Kyoto」に選出いただき、 京都で開催する現代美術のアートフェア「Art Collaboration Kyoto」の VIPラウンジで展示させていただきました。
I was selected for the Pommery Prize Kyoto, an award supporting the activities of young artists based in Kyoto. My work was exhibited in the VIP lounge at Art Collaboration Kyoto, a contemporary art fair held in Kyoto.
